Women’s participation in sporting events up 149% in 4 years

RIYAD – There has been a significant increase in the participation of women in sports activities in recent years, thanks to the tireless efforts of the Ministry of Sports to achieve the goals of Vision 2030.

Deputy Sports Minister Badr Al-Qadi said that the percentage of sports practitioners increased from 13% to 19% during the period between 2015 and 2019 and that this also helps to increase the participation of women in various activities. sports by 149% during the period.

Addressing the Future Investment Initiative session here, Al-Qadi said the ministry’s efforts to meet the goals of Vision 2030 have helped increase the number of athletes in Saudi society.

“The practice of sport has had the greatest impact on Saudi society, as 706 female players participated in physical training programs to join Saudi women’s teams, and more than 90 women entered the field of officiating and more than 59 women have entered the world of training.

We are concerned with the overall improvement of the sports sector by focusing on the discovery and promotion of talents in all areas of sport in all regions of the Kingdom, through various projects such as the Mahd Academy, the School League, Neighborhood League and regional centers of the Saudi Football Federation, ”he added.
