Working in partnership with the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the program aims to create pathways for emerging Pacific athletes to benefit from high-quality training and training, leadership development and development. educational opportunities.

Netball Australia will also attempt to increase training capacity in the Pacific by visiting each country, once it is secure, with the organization planning to work with the federal government on alternative activities and creative ways to support at distance.

Speaking on the announcement, Netball Australia Acting Managing Director Ron Steiner said the development of netball in the Pacific was the deal’s priority.

“Netball Australia is pleased to extend its support for the growth and development of netball internationally, especially as netball plays such an important role in strengthening communities and providing opportunities for girls. and women to shine, ”Steiner said.

“The PacificAus sports program will have a significant impact on supporting netball performance results in Fiji, Samoa, Tonga and Papua New Guinea as they begin to look to the Commonwealth Games and the Cup. of the netball world.

“The program builds on Netball Australia’s continued engagement in the Pacific region, where we have been working for 10 years as part of the Australian Government-funded Pacific Sport Partnership programs and their new ‘Team up’ initiative. .
