APM Terminals Liberia has provided support for the 2022 edition of the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) annual children’s holiday sports program.
The company, in line with its CSR policy of helping youth groups discover and develop their potential, donated 30 sets (360 pieces) of basketball jerseys for 30 teams participating in the sports program.
Under the theme “Giving young people the voice and space for radical transformation”, this year’s YMCA children’s sports program brought together 415 registered students aged 6 to 19.
At the donation ceremony, Natasha Akakpo, Transformation Project Manager, urged participants to have confidence and sustain the will to transform their generation and beyond.
Employees of APM Terminals Liberia who were once prodigies of the YMCA program were held up as role models to encourage program participants.
The donation is part of a broader commitment by the company to support social initiatives focused on empowering and thriving young people.
APM Terminal Liberia’s CSR programs focus on education, job training, youth development and community sanitation.
Last year, the company sponsored the National County Meet Sports festival and also established a scholarship program that has so far paid fees and provided school logistics for more than 150 students in Districts 13 and 14.
The company says it is committed to achieving its business goals which will have a positive impact on the Liberian economy and society and will continue to support initiatives that empower the youth of Liberia.
