Leaders hail ramp-up of state-of-the-art sports training center in Bataan
National and local officials hailed the imminent construction of a state-of-the-art training center for national athletes in the town of Bagac in Bataan.
The 3.5 billion peso facility will be built on a 25-hectare property, officials said at the groundbreaking Friday in the presence of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Duterte said he expected the Philippines Sports Training Center (PSTC) to boost the development of sports in the country.
The President commended the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) under the leadership of William Ramirez and the Bataan Provincial Government under outgoing Governor Albert Garcia for the project.
“We’re going to start training athletes in the province,” Garcia said at the event.
The PSTC, which reports to the PSC, was established under Republic Act 11214.
