former Major League Baseball player to lead YMCA athletic program | Sports

Kyle Keith, the new Athletic Director of the Collier County YMCA.

Kyle Keith, drafted out of college by the Texas Rangers and played for them, has been named athletic coordinator for the Collier County YMCA. Keith is excited to see what new programs he can launch and grow in Naples and Marco Island, from adult leagues to youth leagues. He is intrigued by the possibility of creating teams throughout the county that would compete against each other and include the “YMCA League of Collier County”. Keith is very passionate about sports and says sports consume him a lot. “Sport has influenced my life more than anything else,” Keith said.

Keith is originally from Casper, Wyoming and in his youth he played many sports. In high school, he chose to focus on baseball and basketball. He attended the University of Colorado.

One day, while still in college, he was driving to the mall when a baseball scout from another team informed him that the Rangers had just drafted him. Keith’s professional baseball career took off and took him to places he never imagined he would go and introduced him to people he never imagined he would meet. “I met a lot of famous people,” Keith said.

Keith and his wife, Rachelle, reside in Naples where they enjoy raising their 10 month old son named Shae.
