Bilaspur State Sports Training Center received recognition for swimming, wrestling and track and field games

The Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, opened a new chapter in the development of sport in the state by introducing the concept of Gadbo Nava Chhattisgarh in the playing fields. He animated the concept of holistic development, with the overall development of children, especially those who share a special connection with sport.

For the very first time after the formation of an independent state, the Residential Hockey Academy will soon be launched in Raipur. In addition, the “Center of Excellence” will start in Bahtarai Bilaspur. As part of the Khelo India program, a proposal from the Residential Hockey Academy in Raipur and the “Center of Excellence” for athletics, wrestling and swimming in Bilaspur has been sent to the Sports Authority of the India by the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, for which approval has been received.

Efforts are currently being made to embark on the realization of ‘Gadbo Nava Chhattisgarh’ in the field of sports to enhance the sports talent of the youth of the state and provide the appropriate training. Previously, a proposal had been sent to the Sports Authority of India for archery by the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, for which approval was received. At present, archery training is provided to players in Raipur. As part of the “One State One Game”, the development of archery in Raipur is also underway.

The Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, and the Minister of Sports, Mr. Umesh Patel, addressed the players, sports coaches, officials and employees of the National Department of Sports and Youth Protection, their warmest regards congratulations and best wishes, after receiving recognition from Raipur Residential Hockey Academy and ‘Excellence Center’ for athletics, wrestling and swimming in Bilaspur.

The Chhattisgarh Sports Development Authority was appointed by the Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, for the maintenance of the available sports infrastructure and the operation of the residential sports academies in the state of Chhattisgarh. The games are developed statewide through the authority. The residential hockey academy selection program to be launched in Raipur is being prepared by the Department of Sports and Youth Protection. All facilities like hostel, school, kit, food and residential academy will be made available to the selected trainee players for the residential academy.

Athletics, swimming and wrestling are the three major sports that have been selected for the Center of Excellence to be launched in Bahtarai Bilaspur. The Department of Sports and Youth Welfare is taking steps to create new coaching positions statewide. The Center of Excellence will help further develop the state’s athletic talent. With the recognition of the Indian government, the necessary resources will also be made available by the central government for these two major centers of Chhattisgarh for the development of sport. The MoU will soon be signed between the Sports Authority of India and the State Government Sports and Youth Welfare Department for Chhattisgarh Hockey Academy Raipur.

Mr. Bhupesh Baghel at the inauguration of the AstroTurf hockey stadium in Bahtarai in Bilaspur on June 17, 2019, named it in honor of the former minister late BR Yadav. Hockey India’s 9th National Junior Hockey Competition was launched by the Chief Minister at this stadium, attended by teams from 22 states. A well-equipped sports complex is ready in Bilaspur. Chhattisgarh Raipur Hockey Academy and Bilaspur State Sports Training Center, recognized as “Khelo State Center of Excellence in India”, will provide a good opportunity for the state’s sports talents. to develop their sports skills. Players will benefit from a better sports infrastructure with better facilities and training from good coaches.

The Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, is determined to provide better facilities for the sporting talents of Chhattisgarh. On the occasion of the launch of Yuva Mahotsav this year, the Prime Minister encouraged the youth to move forward in the field of sport by giving a new slogan of ‘Khelbo-Jeetbo-Gadbo Nava Chhattisgarh’.

It should be noted that after the formation of the state, no Sports Academy was established in Chhattisgarh. On the special initiative of the Chief Minister, Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, the Chhattisgarh Hockey Academy was established in Raipur, in which residential facilities are provided for the training of boys and girls hockey players. Constant efforts have been made by the state government to achieve recognition of thw academy from the government of India. Two well-equipped hockey stadiums of international level have already been established in Raipur. The Sports Authority of India and the Khelo India Sports Expert Team visited the Raipur Hockey Academy and took advantage of the information regarding the sports infrastructure and facilities available.
